Kitten Health Guarantee

Hollishill Maine Coon Cats stands behind every kitten we place. We ask that you review our website’s Health Page to understand the possible health risks you may face when owning a Maine Coon Cat.

Hollishill guarantees that our cattery is free of Feline Infections Peritonitis (FIP) at present. The Breeder will refund the full purchase price of this kitten if it dies as a result of said virus within thirty (60) days following delivery. The kitten must have been examined by a veterinarian within ten (10) days following delivery as required in this guarantee.  Evidence of said virus must be provided in the form of a signed affidavit from a licensed veterinarian or pathologist indicating a post mortem sample taken from this kitten tested positive for the FIP virus.  The Breeder will be responsible for costs associated with pathology testing and

necropsy,  provided the Breeder is notified and approves of the performing veterinarian prior to any testing on the kitten being conducted.

Hollishill guarantees that our breeding cats and this kitten are Feline Leukemia (FELV) and Feline HIV/Aids (FIV) negative and that this kitten is currently free of illness or disease.

The buyer has ten (10) business days to have this kitten examined by their veterinarian and tested for the FELV/FIV viruses.  We do not recommend, nor do we use the Feline Leukemia (FELV), or Feline HIV/Aids Virus (FIV) or Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) vaccines as they are not proven effective and can cause health issues. If the buyer uses these vaccines on this kitten this entire Health Guarantee will become null and void.

If the Buyer’s treating veterinarian of this kitten diagnoses a health issue, the Buyer has two (2) days to notify the Breeder of said health issue. The Buyer must also provide the name and telephone number of the treating veterinarian and a written veterinary report that describes the health issue.  The Buyer then has two (2) business days after receipt of their veterinarian’s written statement to return this

kitten for a full refund of the purchase price.

The Breeder warrants that this kitten is genetically sound and will replace this kitten with another at no additional cost if this kitten dies of Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) within fifteen (15) months following delivery. A necropsy is to be performed at the Breeder’s expense and a written copy of the findings must be signed by a licensed veterinarian and a copy must be presented to the Breeder and the Buyer.  If the kitten’s death is found to be due to and caused by HCM, the Buyer is entitled to another kitten at no cost.

The Buyer understands that this kitten is a purebred Maine Coon and that there are  known hereditary and/or congenital defects that exist in the breed.  The Buyer understands that these defects may shorten the lifespan of this kitten, make necessary surgery to correct the defect and/or may require long term treatment of this kitten.  The Breeder will not be held responsible for veterinary costs associated with these defects/health conditions that exist in the Maine Coon Cat Breed which are as follows:

Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM)  The Breeder has provided a limited guarantee for this condition.

Hip Displaysia

Gum Disease / Stomatitis

The Breeder guarantees that this cat is in good health on delivery .  The Buyer

understands that this kitten’s immune system is effected by stressors brought about  with the kitten’s transition to a new home.  These stressors can induce the occurrence of certain health issues which symptoms may not have been apparent to the Breeder  at the time of sale nor to the Breeder’s Veterinarian at the time of the kitten’s health exam.  The Buyer will be responsible for costs associated with the occurrence of these health issues should they arise following delivery:

Viral Upper Respiratory Infections

Conjunctivitis-

Gingivitis

Diarrhea caused by-bacterial intestinal imbalances, changes in diet, stress or vaccinations.
