September 2011

Where did the summer go?

I can't answer that but I can tell you where Syrano, Vellini, and Braelyn went: They all went to beautiful new homes!

Sadly, we lost our beloved Shea about two weeks after she gave birth to two healthy kittens. It is believed by our vet that complications resulting from her pregnancy are what took her life. We still mourn Shea's passing.

We returned to the show circuit on August 20th and 21st in Sturbridge, MA. We exhibited Kelvin and our Dressy girl. Dressy did great by taking 3 best of breed (BOB) placements and earning three ribbons for 3rd, 4th, and 9th best kitten. Kelvin made three BOB placements but did not get any ribbons. Kelvin has a bump on his nose that may prevent him from earning any titles but we'll continue to show him as well as Dressy.

Julian and Brooke had their echocardiograms and have healthy hearts! Kelvin is still too young to be echoed but we will do so before he starts breeding. Right now Kelvin is still an innocent, has no interest in the girls and would rather spend his time pouncing Dressy and Tottie. He is also pals with our German Shepherd, Viggo. Kelvin licks Viggo's head and Viggo plays back.

Check out our new photos of Dressy on our 'Females' page as well as Kelvin's on our 'Males' page.

We hope everyone had a happy Labor Day!

A Perfect Summer 2011

We are experiencing a great summer this year. Both Vellini and Syrano have been adopted. Our adult female Braelyn is now ready for a new home. We retired her and kept her lovely daughter Hot Tottie as the next breeding female of Braelyn's line.

The Melting 2011

We always like to give updates regarding changes to our breeding program even if they are disappointing changes. For example, we were forced to retire Little Man, our up & coming stud to replace Syrano. Unfortunately, like his dad, Little Man was somewhat indifferent to the girls. We have dealt with this behavior from Syrano and decided we need a more assertive stud than Little Man. Our Little Man has been placed in a wonderful home here in Maine. Syrano has been neutered; it is time that he retires to a home of his own. He is available for adoption but will need to adjust to a home environment before he leaves us.

Kelvin Kline will be the newest addition to our program once he grows up a little. We believe Kelvin to be a nice show Prospect and we'll be taking him to shows to find out if we're right. Let's hope he fits the stud role we have planned for him. Look for his photos on our 'Males' page soon.

Vellini was spayed as she displayed very aggressive behavior every time we introduced her to a suitor. I've never known a female that Julian could not woo, so we knew breeding Vellini wouldn't happen. Vellini is now available for adoption if anyone is interested in her. She is as sweet as pie and has a strange fascination with the kitchen sink. Email us for photos.

Enjoy your spring, and thank you for checking in on us!

Fall 2010

After a quiet Summer without many litters, the extended Indian Summer has some of our girls planning on being Moms.  Brooke will be having a litter due Thanksgiving weekend sired by our breeder friends' stud male, Howlyn Fargo of At Last Cats. We hope for a bounty of healthy and happy kittens of the red color persuasion.  Braelyn and Syrano are courting and if sparks fly we will be expecting a Christmas litter.

We had some unexpected changes to the breeding program with the retirement of Rinah who just couldnt seem to conceive despite several attempts.  Rinah is now

living a happy life with her littermate and sister Paris plus other furry siblings.

Cherie had an emergency surgery/spay as a result of a uterine torsion from which we lost 6+ fetuses.  She was seriously anemic and the surgery took a lot out of her.

Her Daddy nursed her back to health and we are relieved and happy that she is still with us.

Misty was also retired and gave us a beautiful boy called 'Little Man' Bryce. Look for him soon on our Males page.

A horse related accident prevented Mama from doing much of anything all summer so the absence of litters was a blessing in disguise.  We plan to start showing again but may have to wait until Spring 2011.  We can't wait to show Little Man and are hopeful for his show success.

Happy Holidays to you all!
